Houston Texans - A New Look in 2024
(SCORESTREAM) A Bright Start April 27th, 2023, The Houston Texans selected Quarterback C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick. The Texans just capped off a very terrible season finishing off 3-13-1, but there was hope after drafting their franchise cornerstone. The Texans selected several other notable players such as Wide Receiver Tank Dell and DE Will Anderson. Once the season started Stroud took the league by storm, throwing for 4108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only 5 interceptions. Tank Dell was having a very promising season before going down with a broken fibula in week 13, in the 13 games he played he finished with 709 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. The Texans finished with a 10-7 record, and had a wildcard matchup against the Clevland Browns, against a veteran Quarterback in Joe Flacco. The Texans shocked everyone in a blowout win against the Browns, 45-14, Stroud threw for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Texan's season would come to an end in the divisional round 10-34 in a loss against the heavily favourite Baltimore Ravens. Although the Texan's season came to an end, they shocked a lot of critics and had a lot of strong points to build off of, Stroud had one of the best rookie quarterback campaigns ever, Tank Dell was having a good season pre-injury and Will Anderson finished the season with 7 sacks. A Great Off-Season The Texans followed up this season with one of the best Off-Seasons in the NFL, Signing stars such as All-Pro receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills and Singing Bengals running back Joe Mixon. Diggs adds a lot of firepower to the Houston offence, he finished last season with the Buffalo Bills putting up, 1183 yards and 8 touchdowns. Joe Mixon is another great addition at the running back position he finished his season with the Bengals with 1034 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Houston has become very dangerous on both sides of the ball, picking up Outside Linebacker Danielle Hunter has really improved their defence, they have big-time playmakers on both sides of the ball, another example of this is Cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. The Texans went from going 3-13-1 to one of the most explosive rosters in football. What's next? The Houston Texans have been underdogs for a while, but there is always fiery hope for being contenders next season. They have to make some big moves in the draft, and bring in some game-changers. If they snag top talent and get those strategic minds working overtime on the playbook, they could seriously shake things up. It's all about the passion and drive - They have to build that team chemistry. If they do it right, they could be the talk of the league. |
